Interview of Inigo Adarraga – Engineer & Manager of the Broadcast Division for ITELAZPI



Inigo Adarrag ITELAZPI is a semi-public Broadcaster of EITB programs, the main public broadcaster in the Basque region of Northern Spain. In the next  phase of their development, the company intends to deploy services to other private local broadcasters.


What products did you purchase from Audemat?


We purchased 3 GOLDENEAGLE FM units, 3 GOLDENEAGLE TV units, the Broadcast MANAGER and the Client MANAGER.

What kind of problem did this product solve for you?


We needed to respond to and qualify complaints coming from EITB listeners and viewers; identify if there were any problems in the signal, and avoid any false complaints.

Where did you install the GOLDENEAGLES?


We installed them in the coverage area at the transmitter sites, connected to an antenna. In the three capitals of the Basque country: San Sebastian, Vitoria, Bilbao.

Where did you install the Broadcast manager?


We installed it in Bilbao in our offices for centralized management.

How long have you been using it?


We have been using the complete solution since the beginning of 2007.

What are the features you like most?


For the GOLDENEAGLE units the features I like most are:
  • The scanning: the GOLDENEAGLE does a sequential monitoring of several frequencies at a time which allows us to monitor several programs from  EITB and in the future from other broadcasters using one single unit.
  • The philosophy of setting the thresholds is  also a great feature as it allows us to receive alarms automatically
  • The SNMP system integration allows us to forward alarms to our own Network Management System (NMS)
  • To confirm the severity of problems the audio and video streaming feature is a very useful tool 

For the Broadcast MANAGER the feature I like most is the filtering. The Broadcast MANAGER creates a first filtering stage to our NMS.

                                                                                                   

Are they any features that you would like to see on future versions of this product?


Well, not really but I’ll use the DVB version of the Goldeneagle. This version will be easily integrated to our Broadcast MANAGER. Audemat really offers a complete monitoring solution.
