GOLDENEAGLE ATSC

Status Page:

When the unit is monitoring stations, the first thing the user sees when they connect with the software is a status page which allows them to see at a glance if there are any active alarms or problems. Snapshots of each available video stream (with auto refresh) give further assurance that the transmissions are functioning properly.

ON SITE MONITORING

The Goldeneagle ATSC monitors 24/7 the quality and continuity of up to 40 8VSB (ATSC) signals and their MPEG2 video streams. It can be installed at the studio with an external antenna or at the transmitting site using a RF probe and/or the optional ASI input. The Goldeneagle ATSC automatically monitors critical RF and MPEG parameters and generates an alarm as soon as it detects out of tolerance conditions. Alarms can be sent via email, SNMP trap or trigger a relay output. The Goldeneagle ATSC features an embedded network interface and is fully compliant to the TCP/IP protocols. It can be locally or remotely operated.

Continuous Monitoring:

The core mission of the Goldeneagle ATSC is to monitor one or more ATSC broadcasts, and immediately notify technical personnel of any problems with any part of the signal.

Using a scan of the ATSC broadcast band, the user can configure up to 40 different channels for monitoring. The Goldeneagle can repeat the scan process at regular intervals and (if desired), notify the user of the appearance of new channels or changes in the strength of existing channels.

The user can configure independent triggering thresholds and alerting for RF parameters (RF, pilot and MER level), plus transport stream errors (1st, 2nd, and 3rd priority, PAT PID and PSIP errors, etc.).

Recorded measurements are stored on the Goldeneagles hard drive for 30 days, and can easily be archived for longer periods by connection with an Audemat Broadcast Manager server.

Real Time measurements:

If alarms are received, or for testing and analysis of problems, a user can access the Goldeneagle ATSC using the touchscreen or a network connection to view and analyze data in real time – not only RF parameters but modulation accuracy, with tools like constellation display, eye diagram and spectrum analysis.

A user can also analyze their transport stream in real time, with MPEG analysis such as data repartition and real time MPEG error displays. MPEG analysis can be performed on a transport stream decoded from the RF receiver, or on a stream connected to the optional ASI input.

And of course any channel that can be received can be streamed back to the user over the network (video and audio). Three different streaming quality settings are available to accommodate limited bandwidth networks. Note that streaming a 1080 HD video picture will only work at the High quality setting, over a robust network connection due to the bandwidth required.

Recording:

Recording setup

The Goldeneagle ATSC can be scheduled to record any stream from any channel at any time, with several different quality settings. The recorded video and audio are stored on the 80 gigabyte internal hard drive, and can be downloaded to a PC for viewing. A stream can also be recorded when an alarm occurs, giving technical personnel the opportunity to see what effect the alarm condition is having on the viewing experience.

Recordings can also be automatically uploaded to an Audemat Broadcast Manager. The clips can then be sorted and viewed using the web-based Media Manager functions.

MOBILE MEASUREMENTS

With the optional GPS rack bag, the Goldeneagle ATSC can go in the field to make measurements right where the viewers are. Check coverage, confirm reception and interference problems, and display the results in Google Earth for a real-world representation of ATSC signal quality.

The optional Mobile Measurement package includes a padded rack bag, adds GPS support and enables operation of the Goldeneagle ATSC from the 12V supply of a vehicle. Special software allows logging of the RF measurements and GPS coordinates, and export of the data for display in many different types of mapping software, including 3-D representations in Google Earth.

NOTE : The Goldeneagle ATSC Mobile Measurement option is a great tool for testing coverage of a digital television signal in the real world – where the viewers are!

REMOTE CONTROL

With Audemats powerful Scripteasy software included, the Goldeneagle ATSC is capable of advanced remote control connections right out of the box. Connect and control other equipment over the network using PING and SNMP commands, or through a serial connection with our Advanced Programming Interface (A.P.I.). The Goldeneagle ATSC supports API, our preconfigured software that allows access to hundreds of control points and measurements with a single RS-232 connection and no additional hardware. Or add the optional I/O boards to include traditional status and analog inputs with relay closures for control.

The Goldeneagle ATSC comes with Audemats powerful Scripteasy remote control software at no extra charge. Add the optional I/O cards and it becomes an advanced remote site management tool with 16 status inputs, 8 analog inputs and 8 relay closures for triggering external events. Using a unique graphic interface, the user can drag and drop input and output elements into the control script, linking them together with logic gates, schedulers, timers, and counters to build automatic actions to certain conditions. Easily access data and control functions over a network connection (Ethernet or PPP), or by using touch tones on a regular telephone line (optional Voice/DTMF interface). More than two years in development, Scripteasy is a revolution in remote control functionality.

Even without the optional I/O cards, the Scripteasy software in the Goldeneagle ATSC is capable of connecting to and controlling external equipment using advanced connection functions such as PING and SNMP GET and SET commands over a network connection, or the Advanced Programming Interface, which enables Javascript access through the serial ports to send queries and commands and receive data from other equipment. Users can write their own Javascript programs, or use one of the pre-written software interfaces, called EasyLink, to access hundreds of data and control points through a single RS-232 connection. API software is available for the Harris Z Platinum series of transmitters, and Ecreso transmitters up to 3 kW. API software may be written for other transmitters, ask about availability.

And once the script is in place, the MasterView software can display multiple user-created views of site information and control functions. The View Creator allows for the inclusion of graphics and even photographs in the views that can be displayed to the operators.
