The Digiplexer 2/4 is a revolutionary digital audio processor available in 2 or 4 band versions that can be used to process audio for FM and digital broadcasting such as HD/DAB and Internet streaming. Using the latest multi-band DSP technology, the DSP board provides up to 2.8 gigaflops of processing power and enables broadcasters to create their own sonic signature and to attract and keep a loyal audience. Processing Architecture
Automatic Gain Control
Using predictive techniques, the Automatic Gain Control is based on complex algorithms that correct large level variations without any pumping effects. It maintains a constant audio level on the air. The wideband approach keeps a total balance between frequencies. Silence gating prevents unnecessary volume changes and improves processing quality.

Tone FX
The Digiplexer 2/4 allows the creation of specific sonic signatures thanks to its 4-band parametric equalizer (even on the 2 band version). For each band it is possible to configure the frequency, the gain and the filter quality. This level of precision is quite useful for bass enhancement. You can also increase high and low frequencies dynamically, thanks to the Bass FX and Treble FX controls.

Stereo FX
Enhance the stereo effect of your signal with perfect control. Stereo enhancement used to be a source of reception troubles such as multi-path. The Digiplexer 2/4 includes a specific limiter to insure FM reception stability.

Multi-band Processing
Available in 2 or 4 bands, the Digiplexer 2/4 uses unique algorithms that control the gain and compression for each band. You can easily control how the Digiplexer 2/4 will process your sound. A ‘Fidelity’ parameter enables you to control how close to the original sound you’d like to remain (Purist/Processed). The Digiplexer 2/4 also has the Sound Impact System, which is a revolutionary algorithm that preserves dynamic and peak attack perception even in high compression conditions.

Multi-band Limiter
The Digiplexer 2/4 contains an advanced 2 or 4 band limiter. Its look ahead function guarantees perfect peak control without the drawbacks of traditional limiters. A mix function enables control of the balance between the bands.

Final Limiter
The previous clippers on the market oat a sampling rate of 768kHz. The Digiplexer 2/4 includes a revolutionary clipper that operates at 1.5 MHz. This level of quality and control has never been reached before. It obviously gives more clarity and less distortion. Precisely control high frequency energy with the HF limiter. An HD limiter can be used at the same time to process digital high quality radio (HD / DAB / DMB…). This HD Limiter uses predictive techniques with very low processing delay.

Presets and User Interface
User friendly and intuitive interface
Since broadcasters are using audio processors, many functions and parameters have been added. The result is that audio processors are typically very difficult to configure. The philosophy of the Digiplexer 2/4 is to provide advanced processing functions integrated with a very intuitive and user friendly interface. All audio parameters are available on a single page of the software, so for example it is very easy to see how the equalization configuration is impacting another processing stage. You can see quickly all parameters that have been modified; they appear in orange. We've also added the following functions:
Configurable Vu meters:
Create your own view by selecting the meters you want to see. Add rows, columns and chose any meter in the list. You also have the possibility to change the units (kHz, %, Vpp, dBu…)
On/Off:
Enable or disable any stage of the processor by clicking on the corresponding on/off button.
Work/Reference:
Compare instantly your current settings with another existing preset.
Undo/Redo:
Keeps a record of all processing modifications thanks to the undo/redo function. Cancel previous settings changes or redo them while listening how it impacts the audio.
Easy/Full modes:
Use easy mode to configure the basic processor functions. Use Full mode to see and control all parameters

Preset management
The Digiplexer 2/4 is provided with many user and factory presets designed for every format.
For those who are using the Digiplexer FMX410/480, the factory preset called “Original Digiplexer” will provide similar coloration with better performance. All presets can be imported or
exported to your PC.
The Digiplexer 2/4 keeps a complete history log of all presets that have been used on air. Thanks to the Preset Histoy Log, you will never lose an old configuration. Moreover, it gives the date, the hour and the origin of the preset (i.e created from “urban” factory preset).

SOUND4
Sound4 is a new French company specializing in treatment for broadcast signals (FM - HD - DAB - DRM - WEBRadio - AM – TV). A new company, yet a company with more than 25 years of experience in the treatment of broadcast signals: founders Vincent Defretin, Camille Gonnet, Damien Jondet and Magali Marchais have already designed many products. Sound4 is first and foremost the designer of OEM solutions meant to be integrated by manufacturers and integrators. Audemat is the exclusive integrator for the Sound4 “stand alone” line. The audio backup is presented as an integrated 3rd audio input with the advantage of configurable crossfades during input auto-switches. An alarm can be automatically sent by the unit to inform the engineer of audio source failure.- Using the java interface, upload audio files from your PC to be used for the Audio Backup, or set the IP port address of your ‘shoutcast’ server so an IP MP3 stream input serves as audio backup.
- Configure the 3 audio inputs: one analog, one digital (AES/EBU) and the audio backup (PCI). The priority of each input can be easily configured. Then the Digiplexer 2/4 will automatically switch to the correct input. Silence detection and delay before switching are configurable.

- Use Backup mode to switch to a secondary input if silence is detected on the primary one.- Use Priority mode to switc to a priority input when audio is detected. Audio input status is always indicated in the diagram.
- Configure a crossfade for the auto-switch event to maintain consistent audio quality even in case of audio failures, and avoid sudden audio variations.
RDS ENCODING
The Digiplexer 2/4 includes a RDS encoder, fully compliant with the RDS and RBDS standards as well as the UECP communication protocol. The built-in RDS encoder offers the same features as our high-end FMB10 / FMB80 RDS encoders... Click here for more information
Standards compliance
Audemat’s Digiplexer 2/4 meets CENELEC and NRSC International standards.
We use UECP SPB490 (Universal Encoder Communications Protocol) as control and message protocol. This non-proprietary standard ensures compatibility among RDS manufacturers and allows data providers manage multiple encoders on a single network.

Multiple message types
Audemat’s Digiplexer 2/4 complies with CENELEC EN50067-IEC62106, supporting a full range of public messages and private data. If listeners have appropriate receivers, you can send them:
- Station identification to enhance audience loyalty and diary response.
- Radiotext and scrolling PS* such as song titles, station slogans, news or even advertisements.
- Automatic switching to alternate frequencies as listeners drive out of a transmitter’s coverage area.
- Codes to automatically switch between sister stations in the same network for news reports or special alerts. Listeners can even choose to hear your alerts while their radios are muted, or when listening to cassette or CD.
- Multiple text messages stored in non-volatile memory for instant access.
- Open, Transparent, and In-house message types (billboard messages). You can sell this capability to commercial data services and private operators, for an extra revenue stream that doesn’t interrupt normal broadcast operations.
- Continuously updated, accurate time and date from an external source.
- Enhanced Other Network messages promoting your other local stations, giving listeners a wider choice without losing overall audience.
- Control messages to remote machinery such as pumps, lights, or industrial installations.
- Differential GPS information. dGPS allows ship captains, truck drivers and other critical users to calibrate their Global Positioning System receivers within one meter without interrupting your regular operation, or compromising audio quality or signal strength.
With the Digiplexer 2/4, you can:
- Store and send the full range of public and private messages
- Decode any messages for re-broadcasting
- Use the JAVA application to control and send messages
Display Scheduler*
The scheduler enables you to send scrolling PS and RT messages based on time and date. One possible application is to schedule name of the guests attending a talk show, or show special weekend or holiday messages.
